activus, of Erfurt, is to start preparations for a first round of VC financing at the end of this month. A number of private investors from activus's customer base have already expressed an interest in taking a stake in the company. It is not expected that activus will start concrete talks with VCs before next year. The seed finance for activus has come from local initiatives to support start-up companies, among them the programme run by Thuringia's ministry for science, research and art, which has awarded activus DM350,000. The present shareholders are the founders, Heiko Hilscher and Gabriela Reppert. activus is presently composed of two companies that will merge in an AG next year, activus Internet-Agentur and activus eShopping GmbH. The internet agency arm provides full-service internet solutions. Activus eShopping will focus on providing specialist goods. Among activus's partners are Hybris and Wire Card. Revenues come from providing internet solutions and it is planned to add the sale of software, hardware and luxury goods. activus's business plan won awards in the GNT Get-Up competition and in the Gründerwettbewerb Multimedia des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft. Among customers are Conrad Elektronic AG, Deutsche Bank and PCB-Pool (which was in the top-ten of the German internetcompetition run by the federal economics ministry). (www.activus.de)
